She has served as full partner and hands-on manager for every development project undertaken with husband Amrit since 1990, when they tackled their first renovation project. Since then, Amy has built a decade-plus tradition of rehabilitation projects which have come in on time and on budget. As the front-woman for Checkmate Design, Amy has received numerous awards including St. Louis Women of the Year, The Women of Influence Award, and the St. Louis Business Journal’s Most Influential Business Leader Award and personally supervises design details for and manages the architects and contractors involved with projects ranging from $80,000 residential rehabs to $40 million restoration projects.
Vice President of Design
A native St. Louisan, Kelly began studying her father's construction documents at the dining room table at a young age. She graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, and brings over 12 years of architectural design and project management experience, as well as 11 years of contracting experience, to her role as Vice President of Design. Kelly is an avid road cyclist and, along with her cycling team United by Design, participates annually in the MS 150 bike ride to fight MS.
Nathan received his Bachelor's Degree of Architecture from Drury University in Springfield, MO and has been with the company since 2012. Nathan has also served as Project Manager/
Superintendent for A&A Contracting. His interest in historic preservation carries over to his personal time where he recently concluded the renovations of his 1886 constructed personal residence. He is currently working toward obtaining his Architectural License.
A Missouri native and a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Chris serves as Project Manager for Checkmate Design. With a background in municipal architecture and construction management, Chris brings his experience to the restoration architecture practice to help ensure a seamless process for Checkmate. An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, he also enjoys playing golf, as well as watching Arkansas Razorback athletics.
Intern Design Architect
Born and raised in St. Louis, Lamont graduated from Construction Careers Center Charter High School and obtained a Bachelor's Degree of Architecture from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA. Before Checkmate Design, Lamont interned at Carpenters Union, HOK Architects, The City of Baton Rouge and the City of St. Louis. Lamont is excited to share his abilities and knowledge with his hometown and revitalizing St. Louis' historic features.
At a young age Synetra Parker dreamed of restoring buildings in her hometown St. Louis. She began studying architecture in high school where she quickly realized she was destined to follow this career path. Once Synetra saw an opening for Checkmate Design she knew her dreams would finally become a reality. Although Synetra is still pursuing her architectural licensing she is very eager to learn, and has become a great asset to her team.
